Tasting Notes
Spice, earth, raspberry and cherry notes. Medium bodied. A classic Pinot Noir, loaded with red fruit and cherry cola.
Pairing
The natural acidity and aromas in this Pinot Noir make tuna or salmon the perfect fit for this wine. Turkey or poultry will work wonderfully as well.
Salmon cakes, seared tuna with grilled asparagus, garlic-rosemary roasted whole chicken, Indian dishes or braised meats.
Russian River Valley
Pinot Noir's thin skin makes it susceptible to disease and infections, with low yields that provide winemakers with a particularly challenging wine to produce.
Too much rain will cause the grapes to rot—often hiding within Pinot Noir’s tight grape clusters. Too much sunshine will cause the grapes to shrivel and burn, imparting a bad flavor into the wine. Pinot Noir also buds early, exposing it to spring frost and potential ice damage.
Fortunately, in the Russian River Valley, a cooling fog that rolls in from the Pacific Ocean at night helps bring life to cool-climate varietals such as pinot Noir and Chardonnay, shielding this temperamental grape from too much sunshine and just enough coolness without bitter frost.
This Pinot Noir is a wonderful expression of the beauty that occurs when you couple both climate and passion with a grape that needs plenty of love and attention to prosper.
