Rated #93 Wine Spectator Top 100 Wines of the World 2022
Light gold in color, this white blend has fruity aromas of citrus and melon with flavors of pear and green apple on the palate.
A generous style, with lush sweet apple and pear highlighted by candied pineapple and warm toast. Salty minerals beautifully offset the richly textured palate of this well-knit white. Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.
Notes
White grapefruit, crisp acidity, minerality, loaded with notes of citrus and lemon
Judean Hills Blanc 2020 reflects the character and quality of our vineyards, located in the ancient region of Judean Hills. The wine is made from Chardonnay (80%) and Sauvignon Blanc (20%) grapes, grown on old terraces.
The soil is shallow Terra-Rosa with subsoil of limestone. The wine went through cool fermentation and Sur-Lie aging for 7 months in French barriques and stainless steel tanks. The wine did not go through malolactic fermentation in order to retain the natural acidity and freshness of the wine. It drinks beautifully today and will keep developing in bottle over the next 2-3 years.
Consultant Jean-Claude Berrouet was the preceding Technical Director of Chateau Pétrus. Winemakers Eran Pick and Dan Sheinman, coupled with Vineyard Manager Dor James, along with Jean-Claude have come together to make some terrific wines.
Pairing
Pairs perfectly with grilled tuna, smoked salmon and poultry.
History
Located high in the Judean Hills, Shoresh vineyard has a wide range of small parcels varying in elevation and soils, such as Moza Marl, Terra-Rosa and deep bands of limestone. Consequently, grape varieties are planted according to their optimized needs. This natural variation gives birth to an array of terroirs, which create wines of great complexity and longevity.
Our wines are produced from our estate grown vineyards in the Judean Hills, and express the character of their terroir. The wines are named accordingly: ‘Judean Hills’ Red and Blanc, which reflect the historical wine region of Judean Hills; ‘Shoresh’ Red and Blanc, produced from grapes on ancient terraces of Shoresh vineyard; and the flagship wine—’Misty Hills’, which is produced from a unique plot of the vineyard with exceptional terroir.
