Born in 1899 in Brooklyn, New York to Italian immigrant parents, Al Capone was to rise to power and become America's most notorious Gangster. A long, deep scar from a sharp blade, cut the side of Capone's face in a NYC bar fight, giving him the nickname "Scarface." In 1920, at the height of Prohibition, Capone built a criminal empire in Chicago from bootlegging, gambling and other criminal activities. In 1929, while waging war with rival gangs, Capone was believed to have ordered the bloody St. Valentine's Day Massacre which allowed him complete rule of Chicago. The Gangster's reign gave the FBI cause to name Al Capone, "Public Enemy Number One."
