Cabana Sauvignon Blanc 2024
A light pale gold color, clean fresh taste of Lemongrass, lime honeydew melon, with hints minerality on the nose. Nice balance, good acid, with a mouthwatering finish.
Nose: The aromatics are bright, fresh, and inviting. Expect prominent notes of citrus blossom, lemon zest, and lime, complemented by hints of stone fruit (like white peach or nectarine). Some descriptions also mention tropical nuances, such as papaya, and a touch of dried herbs or a subtle minerality.
Palate: On the palate, the wine is dry and clean, with a lively, crisp acidity that provides excellent freshness and a mouth-watering sensation. Flavors of cucumber, lime zest, and papaya are prevalent, along with the bright citrus from the nose. It's generally described as well-balanced and smooth, delivering a refreshing experience with good purity of fruit.
Finish: The finish is clean, refreshing, and of moderate length, with the citrus and subtle fruit notes lingering pleasantly. It leaves a "mouthwatering finish" that encourages another sip.
Pairing
Fresh Oysters: A specific recommendation from the winery, and a perfect pairing. The wine's crispness and minerality cut through the brininess.
Grilled White Fish: Think cod, tilapia, halibut, or snapper, simply prepared with lemon and herbs.
Fish Tacos: Especially those with a fresh, zesty salsa.
Fried Calamari or Fish and Chips: The wine's acidity cuts through the richness of fried foods.
Shrimp Scampi or Ceviche: The citrus and freshness align perfectly.
The Cabana Story
After 19 years of making wine at Renwood, which I founded and named after my wife Rene, we were looking for a new challenge. My daughters wanted to open an urban winery and I wanted a boutique winery where we could produce wines from the best vineyards and control the process. Cabana was born in 2011, our first 7 years were in Sacramento, as the focus became on expanding our production, we move to Lodi. At Cabana, we ferment in small lots and barrel age the wine in French oak. Then I used my 30 years of wine making experience to produce the final blend of our award winning wines. We now produce 18 wines from Lodi, Napa and Amador county.
The name Cabana came from the thought, "making wine, is like a day at the beach". Being from New England, we don't get many beach days making it extra special. Visit Cabana Winery in Lodi. Enjoy wine tastings, many special events. We look forward to sharing the Cabana wine experience with you, stop in our tasting room today!
