92 Point New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc!!! Dog Point Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc 2015 Yesterday in Vinous Media, Stephen Tanzer did an extensive review of New Zealand wines. One of the top rated wines in the report and one of the most reasonably priced was the Dog Point Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2015. There is an ocean of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc out there; much of it mass produced and frankly boring. The Dog Point is another story however. This is a wine that does not fit the typical flavor profile of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, which is generally all about grapefruit and sometimes jalapeno, often with a slightly sweet finish. While the Dog Point has some of the citrus qualities one finds in other New Zealand Sauvignon Blancs, it is much more complex and goes way beyond a simple quaffing wine. Try this and you will see why we and Tanzer were knocked out by this wine! Critical Acclaim: Stephen Tanzer Vinous Media: 92 Points!!! "Pale, bright yellow. Sexy musky aromas of white peach, ginger and quinine. Ripe, broad stone fruit and spice flavors display more body than most Marlborough Sauvignons while maintaining a captivating piquancy. Really dusts the palate and carries on the aftertaste. Delivers an impressive combination of sweet fruit and salty finishing grip. There's nothing tart or austere about this compelling Sauvignon Blanc. (Incidentally, the 2008 vintage of this wine is à point today: pliant and plush, with concentrated flavors of candied citrus fruits, peach and gingery spices nicely framed by a firm spine of alcohol and acidity. The 2005 version is more peppery and herbaceous, less about fruit but still full of life.)" 92 Points -- Stephen Tanzer Regular Price: Cheers!
