The Reichsrat von Buhl estate has been in existence for over 200 years. Part of the reason for their success is the special attention they pay to small yields and highly selective harvesting. The Riesling grown in the complex loess and clay soils of the Jesuitengarten is especially notable for its amazing whollop of ripe fruit and almost inexhaustible finish, while Auslese wines from the Ungeheuer the monster are voluptuously sweet and dramatic. Long, reductive maturations are carried out in stainless steel tanks in a cavernous, 2km long cellar. The results are invariably fine, fruity and clean wines with waxy textures and long aging potential. Von Buhl is also an important producer of sekt.--Winemakers Note
