Forty-eight percent of the grapes are from our newest planting of a very special and rare clone, forty percent is from the original Sauvignon Blanc vineyard planted in 1959 and twelve percent is from Rochioli's seventeen year old hillside vineyard. Twenty-five percent of this blend is barrel fermented which gives this wine its complexity and round texture. The rest is tank fermented to preserve its intense varietal character and firm acidity. Aromas of grapefruit with a touch of grass and flinty characteristics. An intense, complex and richly flavored wine.--Winemakers Note
Light, greenish gold. Minerally accented orange, lemon and floral aromas are complicated by nuances of green tea and honeysuckle. Impressively racy and focused but far from austere, with juicy citrus and orchard fruit flavors and a dusting of talc and minerality. Tactile, well-delineated wine, leaving spicy and stony notes behind on the long finish.--Stephen Tanzer
