In the Fifties, the old mixed vines were substituted with specialized varieties and then replaced with intensive-style vineyards around 1990, under the supervision of Paolo Masi. The enological buildings were created by Paolo Masi (the young agronomist's grandfather) and extended after the Second World War - and, again, recently - by his son, Renzo, who brought the production plant to its present size. The Riserva Chianti is produced only in very good vintages, from a selection of the best grapes. It is composed of 95% Sangiovese and 5% Colorino. This wine is released after a minimum of 30 months of aging.--Winemakers Note
