Since the early 19th century, the name Paul Jaboulet A+«n+¬ has been eponymous with quality in the Rh+¦ne. Today, there is a renewed sense of energy and purpose. Impressive holdings are among the largest in the Rh+¦ne, spanning nearly all great appellations: Condrieu, Cornas, C+¦te-R+¦tie, St. Joseph, Crozes-Hermitage and Hermitage. Recent purchases include Ch+óteauneuf-du-Pape, Crozes-Hermitage and C+¦te-R+¦tie vineyards. Winemaking stresses severe selection, dramatically lower yields, long and steady fermentations and aging in newer barrels. The wines are rich and dense, with remarkable balance and finesse: Rh+¦ne grapes in full song. Most wines are enjoyable upon release, while wines like Hermitage La Chapelle and Cote Rotie Les Jumelles reward patience.--Winemakers Note Pretty, with a supple opulence enveloped in fat tannins and ripe fruit. Delivers plum, blackberry and black cherry character. Tight and firm for now, even closed. Needs time. Best from 2003 through 2010.-- Wine Spectator
