Alvaro Espinoza had returned to Chile from a stint at Fetzer and Bonterra where he experienced his own eureka on biodynamic farming. Upon his return to Chile and under the spell of the teachings from Alan York and Jim Fetzer, Alvaro was burning with ideas to put into practice in his home vineyard. Consequently with the concept of having Chono representing the most interesting and unique terroirs, here is a Carmenere-Syrah blend from the Elqui Valley, the northernmost wine growing region of Chile, located 500 kilometres north of Santiago. The vineyards for this Carmenre & Syrah are located 30 kilometres from the sea shore. Intensive colour and a spicy nose with berries, black fruit and hints of tar. The structure is very well balanced with the softness of the tannins. Its intensive fruitiness is very well married with the oak.--Winemakers Note
