Chateau Doisy Daene Barsac
Masses of crushed grape, honey and hints of clove and nutmeg. Full-bodied, very sweet and very lively, with lots of acidity and spicy fruit. Long and flavorful, with loads of passion fruit flavor. --Wine Spectator
Pale yellow color. Spicy, perfumed aromas of pineapple, peach nectar, nutmeg and ginger, with a complicating smoky nuance. Juicy, pure and penetrating, with harmonious ripe acidity framing the pineapple, white peach and citrus flavors. This has an almost painful spiciness today that gives the finish a somewhat aggressive character, but this is long and promising. --Stephen Tanzer
This lovely wine plays tricks on us. It is at once full and fleshy and suggests a level of concentration that it never quite delivers, but, on the other hand, it is so wonderfully aromatic with its mix of flowers, citrus marmalade, honey and nuts that it succeeds nonetheless. Its 2005-ness shows in a pineappley edge of greenness and slight bitterness towards the finish, and in its ripeness without quite the depth or richness to match that allows a touch of heat to rise at the end. Those minor quibbles aside, this is pleasing wine on the whole and one which will reward a decade of cellaring. --Connoisseur's Guide 1 Star, 90 Points
