Finding an old farmstead, and transforming it into a fully-equipped state-of-the-art headquarters: the Monsordo-Bernardina project fully reflected the Ceretto spirit, which is always hovering between tradition and innovation.
Since 1987, this estate on the outskirts of Alba has been the nerve center where the company's financial and commercial operations and offices are concentrated, along with the warehouse which brings together all the wines from the various estates. Some of the firm's historic labels are also produced here, most notably Arneis Blange.
One out of every five bottles of Arneis produced in Piedmont bears the elegant Blange label designed by Silvio Coppola, proving the great success achieved by the Ceretto white, which made its debut in 1985 when the first vineyard of approximately 3.5 hectares was purchased. It was an immediate hit, and this led to the Blang+¬ farm being rapidly expanded with the acquisition of 10 more hectares in Vezza. In 1987, the new winery was inaugurated in Alba (on the Monsordo Bernardina estate), equipped with a fully-computerized fermentation system. This allows the wine-making process in each single tank to be controlled on a real-time basis, and to pre-set technical parameters, alternating hot and cold temperatures, and maintaining a certain degree of overpressure inside the tanks. Early in 1996, the addition of the San Carlo estate extended the property to a total of 135 acres in the villages of Vezza and Castellinaldo.--Winemakers Note
